Zoloft Weight Gain

Approximately 25% of individuals taking Zoloft, an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) antidepressant, experience some weight gain. This is common among all SSRIs. Since weight gain was not one of the side effects reported in the original clinical trials on Zoloft and other SSRIs, which were only eight to twelve weeks long, it is uncommon for doctors to tell patients about this possible side effect.
