Soul blues is a manner of blues music developed in the past 1960s and early 1970s that unites elements of soul music and city-born live music.
Vocaliser and musicians who grew up minding to the unreformed nervous blues of artists such as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Elmore James; soul vocalists such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Otis Redding; and gospel music wanted to bridge deck their cherished music together.
